In Notting Hill Gate
Professor Snape!

I was beginning to think you were no show. Christian Fuchs. Great to meet you.

Are you always this cheerful?

You were Hufflepuff, weren't you?

Ravenclaw in fact. My brother was in Hufflepuff though. Sebastian, year above me.

The beard's a nice touch, sir. Icognito, are we?

No. We are not.

It's nice though. Cosmopolitan. You'd fit right in hereabouts. Notting Hill Gate's very hip right now, as the Muggles say. Very much the latest thing. You're lucky there's anything available, really.

I don't particularly give a damn about hipness, Fuchs. I merely want a functional flat that will meet my requirements.

Well let's go up and have a look, shall we?

It has all the necessities, I think, though you're paying extra for the location, of course. And I'm guessing that will have something in it for you.

Mind the steps, they're a bit steep. You'd likely Floo in though once you were set up. But it's got that Muggle character to it everyone's after these days.

Are there charms built in to the steps to prevent falling?

2009-10-22 12:46 am UTC (link)
Well I don't think so but you can try throwing yourself down them to see if you'd like. *a laugh*

Sorry, sir, just my little joke.

Seriously, you'd probably close the door at the top and never open it again, wouldn't you? Who uses a door these days, especially if you're in the Muggle zones. Just attracts attention really.

Here we are.

There are four children within the ages of one and three and a half who will have access to my flat. The last thing I wish is for any of them to break their skulls open.

Then I'd say you keep the door shut.

Here's the lounge. Small, but it's nice. Great windows and the best sort of view for the area. Excellent light.

*a long pause*

It's adequate. Not enough bookcases.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]allandsundry
2009-10-22 12:56 am UTC (link)
Quite right. But there's space in the hall as well, no reason why there couldn't be bookcases all along here. This is a dining room according to the plans, but you see it could be a study instead or an extra bedroom if you need it.

How many bedrooms?

[info]allandsundry

Two, but as I said this could be a third. One of those transforming lounge suites would be just the ticket for this room. Just over there. Still plenty of room for bookcases and a desk and the good ones aren't just lounge and bed and table these days, you know, they can be pretty much anything. Hat stand. Bar. Workbench.

[info]cauldron_brew

No room for potions work.

[info]allandsundry
2009-10-22 01:04 am UTC (link)
True, true, not technically. But as you're on the top floor you've got the advantage of an attic. There's a lot a wizard of your calibre could do with an attic along those lines.

The whole building was a single house once, of course. Long time ago, though. All rental now.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]cauldron_brew
2009-10-22 01:05 am UTC (link)
Hm.

Where is the attic access?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]allandsundry
2009-10-22 01:08 am UTC (link)
End of the hall. You could do a lot with a charmed door, a lift. The lease specifies no structural changes, and any architectural magic needs to be cleared by the agent, but given that you are Severus Snape, well, there's not likely to be any problems, really. No one thinks anything of all that Ministry guff.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]cauldron_brew
2009-10-22 01:10 am UTC (link)
I don't really give a damn.

Show me the attic.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]allandsundry
2009-10-22 01:13 am UTC (link)
Certainly. The kitchen's just here, did you want to have a look or... No, attic. Of course.

Let me just, Alohomora. You could do something more subtle, I'm sure. A ladder isn't exactly the last word in interior design. But I guess it would keep the children out.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]cauldron_brew
2009-10-22 01:16 am UTC (link)
I don't particularly wish to keep them out.

Then make it a lift. Or an escalator. Kids love rides.

A little work, a day or so probably for you... There's plenty of space up here.

Ah... I don't even think that was a mouse, actually, not a mouse that lives here. But you could set traps. Or get a kneazle. It's probably from the neighbouring house.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]cauldron_brew

That inspires confidence.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]allandsundry
2009-10-22 01:26 am UTC (link)
It's a Muggle thing really. Muggles on the left, a few young wizards on the right, old married couple down below, magical though. From the Muggles you might get the odd mouse, some noise they don't know how to keep down. But we can deal with that, can't we? Nothing a little magic won't fix.

Did you want to see the bedrooms? The kitchen? No laundry, of course, but there's a laundromat down the street which is a hoot, really - well, if you're younger. You've probably got an elf anyway.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Bit of a fashion for it, really. One of the larks of Muggle London. Watching the Muggles...

Probably not for you.

Did you, ah, want to look at the other rooms?

Of course not, Professor. No one would ever suspect you did.

But for your friends, perhaps. Muggle shopping and so on...

I could get 100 Gs a week for this place without trying. Two bedrooms, great light, the attic.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]cauldron_brew

I want a minimum of three bedrooms for that price.

[info]allandsundry

There's the dining room. Could be a bedroom if you need it. And the attic, which is valuable extra space in an area like this.

It's a good price, sir. There'd be no point trying to mark something up when I'm dealing with Severus Snape.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

There's one more I could get you into today. Islington. Ground floor but one bedroom and a study, I'm not sure it's what you're looking for.

Tomorrow I've an opening for a small house just up the road in Notting Hill, and in the afternoon I could show you a half house in Shoreditch. Very fashionable, Shoreditch.

Quite spacious for a two bedder the Notting Hill place. Two in Shoreditch as well, but a nice upstairs sunroom which would be lovely in the mornings, nice for a small bedroom.

Ninety. Ninety a week for this place and I guarantee you'll be happy with it.
